I was directed to read this post by a friend of mine, so I took some time just for this. And man, you've put exactly what I think of this lady one. Pity, I used to admire this fart once.
Wonder why she is allowed to roam free even after such an anti-national outburst. Nobody ever thinks what our soldiers who're ready to give their lives for the nation feels about all this verbal diarrhea... Shame, and sad.
PS: Man, I'm still settling into my new city and yet to get a phone and broadband. So I'm in a forced hibernation from blogspace. But I couldn't miss this one as this was strongly suggested. Well done! :)
Clap clap clap...Sometimes I wonder how people misuse their freedom of speech..."Hooker Prize" was a mistake and I keep wondering why books/movies get a lot of attention when they show India in a bad light...
The good or bad about a democratic state is that it gives her right to do any verbal orgasm of sorts that suits her from time to time, and you Praveen, to write or speak what you think about -- and we need that freedom; if it were used with a sense of responsibility -- we can only wish :)
The book is one of the best trash i've read -- well we, and the world, do promote people for apparently wrong reasons :)

It is true that the Naxalites rape and kill people, but what about the rapes and killings CRPF has been accused of in the Naxal affected regions? What about the kid who had been forced to pick up arms just because his mother was raped by a policeman and his father killed? The ruler of Kashmir wanted it to be an independent state, neither joining hands with India nor Pakistan, is a well known fact, please check Wikipedia for more details.
And, if there is anyone who loves to be in spotlight all the time, it's Shobha De...anything on her would be welcomed and appreciated!

What do u call a state with a seperate Constitution,seperate set of rules and where 'directive principles of state policy' are not valid?
Where people are denied fundamental rights.Where people from rest of the country cannot own land and settle. All in all these people are seperated,alienated and suffered. They are very much seperated from the rest of the nation. Think about if ur child cant go to schools.Ur offices are not opening coz of Emergency. Ur young girls wives and mothers are raped by Army officials and u have nowhere to complain.
Are u in favour of Military rule in India??? Then why question the Kashmiris for tht?
India cares about Kashmir-the piece of land. But it doesnt realise tht Kashmir- means both land together with the people. by alienating the people nobody can grab the land. Kashmir is today a seperate country in itself.India has set the rules for that.
Same happen at Maoist places where corporate interests lie. Check any maoist troubled area, a recent mining project might have been announced there after driving away the people. Whom shud they go to- the Corrupt Judiciary?Corrupt politicians?Corrupt Media?
There is no terrorists or maoists threat.But all are created by the Mainstream media to serve corporate interests. ANd u fall prey for that.
There shud be soe people to speak out against it.thts all Ms Arundhati had done. Her saying Kashmir is never integral part of India is a blatant truth that anyone knows.
With recent media unveilings and wikileaks ur respect for Arundhati will grow in near future.Bet my words, eventough u may not agree.
